COVID-19 – A quick overview

The outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease of 2019 (COVID-19) has presented several new challenges for employers in the workplace as they strive to keep businesses running while supporting the health and well-being of their workforce.

Employers have obligations to protect workers from hazards in the workplace as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and its regulations. Similarly, employees have the responsibility to inform themselves by consulting information provided by health authorities and by their employer as well as to follow their management’s directions regarding reporting to work and workplace health procedures in the context of the COVID-19.

What is 4S doing for businesses?

4S Consulting has developed the following training modules to provide guidelines that will help employers and their workforce navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.

To self-register and follow the 4Steps mentioned below:

STEP 1 – Register online as an employer

Click Here and fill out your Employer Registration mandatory information.

STEP 2 – Choose your sector

Choose your sector from the drop down list & click on submit.

STEP 3 – Share the employer code with your team

After you complete your registration, you will receive an Employer Code that will be sent to the email you used for registration. This email will need to be shared with your employees for User Registration in STEP 4. You will also be receiving another email with self-registration instructions that you will need to share with your employees and subcontractors.

STEP 4 – Employees’ user registration

Ask your employees to CLICK HERE and fill out the required information in the User Registration tab to sign up for the COVID-19 training. They will need to enter the Employer Code you sent them by email to complete the registration.

That’s it! You are done with self-registration.

  1. Once your employees complete STEP 4, 4SafeCom™ will automatically direct them to the assigned training
  2. They will need to take the training and acknowledge it at the end

4S COVID-19 Online Training Modules – An Overview

The information in these training modules are based on information sourced from public health agencies and government resources.

Over the course of the pandemic, they will change to reflect what is valid at the time. Our goal is to keep everyone informed and enable them to operate during these challenging times.

1. COVID-19 Awareness Training for Employers

COVID-19 Awareness Training for Employers is a comprehensive training module designed to help employers, managers and supervisors prepare and respond to exposure and illness caused by COVID-19 at their workplace.

Topics addressed in this training module include:

  • General information about COVID-19 (origin, transmission, and symptoms) and specific prevention
    and control measures an employer can use to safeguard their workforce
  • Discussions around pandemic planning as well as common scenarios employers may face during this pandemic are also presented in this training

After completing this course, employers will be able to:

  • Explain ways to limit and prevent exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace
  • Respond to common scenarios, such as employee illness, they may face during the pandemic

2. COVID-19 Awareness Training for Employees

While employers and management are responsible for establishing plans and procedures, employees play a key role in keeping operations running and preventing exposure.

COVID-19 Awareness Training for Employees is a comprehensive training module designed to help workers prepare and respond to exposure and illness caused by COVID-19 at their workplace.

Topics addressed in this training module include:

  • General information about COVID-19 (origin, transmission, and symptoms)
  • Specific prevention and control measures workers can use to protect themselves while at work

After completing this course, employees will be able to:

  • Explain ways to limit and prevent exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace

3. COVID-19 Awareness Training – Construction Sector

While many workplaces are shutting down, many construction sites have been deemed an essential service and continue to operate.

COVID-19 Awareness Training – Construction Sector is a comprehensive training module designed to provide
guidance on best practices for the construction sector in order to maintain the health and safety of all workers required to perform duties during the COVID-19 pandemic. This training module draws on key topics in the job site guidelines developed by Ontario’s Chief Prevention Officer.

Topics addressed include:

  • Prevention and control strategies to prevent exposure to COVID-19 at construction sites, which include:
    • Illness screening
    • Site sanitation
    • Physical distancing
    • Hygiene
    • Communication

After completing this course, learners will be able to:

COVID-19 Awareness Training – Skilled Trades and Technical Services (STTS) Sector is a comprehensive training module designed to provide guidance on best practices for the STTS sector in order to maintain the health and safety of all workers required to perform duties during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Topics addressed in this training module include:

  • Prevention and control strategies to prevent exposure to COVID-19 for STTS workers while on the job, which includes:
    • Illness screening
    • Enhanced cleaning disinfection
    • Physical distancing
    • Hygiene
    • Steps to take before, during, and after service calls

After completing this course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain ways to limit and prevent exposure to COVID-19 while completing service calls
  • Respond to common scenarios, such as illness, they may face while on the job

6) COVID-19 Awareness Training – Sanitation

Studies have shown that the virus that causes COVID-19 can survive on various surfaces anywhere from several hours to days. It is thus imperative that proper sanitation procedures are implemented to minimize and prevent the spread of COVID-19. This comprehensive module provides guidance on how to identify high-touch areas and surfaces in the workplace and how to implement sanitation protocols.

After completing this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify high-touch areas and surfaces
  • Understand the virus and its transmission routes
  • Comprehend sanitation protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19

7) COVID-19 Awareness Training – Administrative Offices

 

Many businesses operate in office settings. This comprehensive training module is designed to provide guidance for employers and employees on best practices to implement to maintain a safe and healthy office during the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics addressed in this training module include: prevention and control strategies to prevent exposure to COVID-19 in admin offices, such as controlling building access, illness screening, physical distancing, cleaning and disinfection and hygiene and respiratory etiquette.

  • Respond to common scenarios, such as illness, they may face while at the workplace
