Annually in North America worker and pedestrian injuries and fatalities in roadway work zones make up a large portion of workplace incidents. Ontario construction regulations require all employers involved in roadway construction projects to develop specific, site-appropriate, traffic protection plans. This ensures that both workers and the of public using roads and pedestrian ways remain safe in these areas.

The Traffic Safety Planner - Temporary Work Zones course is a one-day, instructor-led program that facilitates participants in how to create safe and effective plans, but also demonstrates how to implement, update, and oversee the use of traffic control and protection plans for temporary work zones. Utilizing both the Ontario Construction Projects Regulation and the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7, students will participate in various practical exercises, scenarios, and learn to determine the appropriate typical layout for their worksite. Participants must bring a copy of the 2022, Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7 – Office Edition for the course.
