JHSC training

You need JHSC training if you are:

Part of the JHSC within your organization

If you are part of the Joint Health and Safety Committee of your organization with 20 or more workers, you will need the JHSC certification training. The OHS Act requires an organization with 20+ workers to train at least 1 worker and 1 manager rep.

Setting up a JHSC within your organization

If your organization has just touched the 20+ employees recently, you will need to set up a JHSC. Moreover, you must ensure at least 1 worker and 1 manager rep are certified JHSC members.

Part of an organization with 20 or more employees

If your organization has 20+ employees in Ontario, training for 1 worker and 1 manager rep is mandatory.

Looking to maintain your JHSC training (JHSC certification)

This training is only valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of completion of Joint Health and Safety Committee certification training part 2. Therefore, certified JHSC members need to enroll in a refresher training before the end of the 3 years. In case they are not able to do so, they will have to apply for an exemption from the Chief Prevention Office before the term ends.

During COVID-19, JHSC certification training is the most effective way to minimize workplace transmission. Certified JHSC members add tremendous value to an organization since they help employers in building a strong Health and Safety program.
