Based on the current level of your program, we can offer ORHMA members a wide variety of customized OHS consulting services mentioned below:
Safety Compliance Review / Gap Analysis
4S offers Safety Compliance Review or Gap Analysis to stack up your existing health and safety program against the WSIB Workwell standard. We utilize the WSIB Workwell audit format, which involves an onsite evaluation of documents and a review of your operations. We take on the role of the auditor to thoroughly assess the health and safety program – as well as help you maintain compliance by giving you viable solutions.
Our Gap Analysis is a very comprehensive and thorough analysis of your current health and safety program. It will detail all the areas pertaining to health and safety that you should focus on to not only ensure compliance, but to excel in health and safety. If some elements are lacking at your workplace, you will know exactly what you need to do to bring your program up to standard, since we will provide you with expert recommendations for the same.
We will be reviewing your:
- Policies and procedures
- Health and safety material
- Hazard identification report
- The reporting channels for injuries and illnesses, health and safety training provided to employees, first aid accessibility, return to work schedules and plans, etc.
All this will be documented and presented in a comprehensive report, listing out which areas have scored well and which areas you need to focus on.
A Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) is a preliminary step for any health and safety program. At 4S, we believe the JHA is the backbone of the health and safety program. How would you know about what the health and Safety program should have without knowing the hazards your employees face at their jobs? It is the hazard assessment that determines the procedures your employees will need to do the job safely, the training they need, the personal protective equipment they need. Without a hazard assessment, you safety program is just a compilation of copied and downloaded documents and procedures that has no relevance to your business.
Our JHA starts with analyzing your business, what it entails and the tasks that are involved in meeting your customer needs, be it a manufacturing facility, transportation, construction, or retail operation. Once your business is analyzed, then we look at what it takes for your employees to make this happen. Our JHA details the hazards that one may be exposed to in your company environment. We would also give you corrective recommendations to solve that problem, recommendations that would be the most feasible for you. In the hazard assessment we assess your workplace based off all the tasks that are performed in the operations of the business. Based on this information, an employer/supervisor will have all the procedural and training requirements they need for existing and new hires.
Health and Safety manual
Don’t have a health and safety manual? Or your existing one been buried in so much dust that it’s not relevant anymore?
Have no worries – 4S is here to help. We will work with you to create a new customized health and safety manual that is specified for your specific case or spruce up your existing health and safety manual to be relevant to today’s regulations on health and safety.
Undoubtedly, we advise to take more steps than just a health and safety manual. The manual is of no use if your health and safety program isn’t ALIVE. However, having a health and safety manual is definitely a step in the right direction.
We advise you to get a Hazard Assessment done and the recommendations from the assessment attended to. This way you ensure all potential hazards from all operations of your business are covered and addressed. Thus, if any situation springs up, you are prepared to handle the challenge.
In addition to the above with a wide range of other OHS consulting services, which include:
- Support with site inspections
- Attending JHSC meetings and mentoring your committee members
- Mentoring your workers
The nature of OHS consulting will be decided based on the current level of your program and the scope of work.
