Is JHSC Certification Required in Ontario?
Whether your workplace requires JHSC certification is primarily determined by the number of workers regularly employed at the workplace. Under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), different health and safety requirements apply depending on your workforce size.

How to Get & Maintain Certification
Participants must complete Part 1 & 2 to become JHSC Certified and to maintain certification you must complete a Refresher course every 3 years.

Ontario’s updated JHSC certification training standards came into effect on July 1, 2026. These updated standards introduced revised delivery requirements, learning outcomes, administrative processes, and approval requirements for training providers.
