Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director, the OHS Training Department Manager is responsible for leading and expanding the training capabilities at 4S Consulting Inc. This role works closely with the leadership team to design, develop, and deliver training programs that support business growth by enhancing existing offerings and introducing new services.
The Training Department Manager is a strategic leader who identifies and evaluates market opportunities and translates them into profitable training solutions. At the same time, this role requires strong execution skills, including planning, organization, and operational management, to ensure effective program delivery and scalability.
This is a management-level position with full accountability for the training function, including oversight of the training profit and loss (P&L), ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage 4S Consulting Inc.’s training function, including oversight of the training team
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of 4S’s business operations, decision-making processes, and training delivery model
- Build and maintain a strong understanding of 4S’s three core pillars: Training, Consulting, and Systems, and their integrated value proposition
- Develop and implement a strategic training growth plan that identifies opportunities to support 4S’s pillars and expand training revenue through existing and new offerings
- Identify, evaluate, and respond to market demand for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training services aligned with 4S capabilities
- Develop and maintain an annual and rolling three-year training delivery plan in collaboration with the leadership team
- Establish and maintain key client and stakeholder relationships
- Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of training programs to meet both current and emerging client needs
- Assess the effectiveness of training delivery and implement initiatives to optimize scalability, quality, and efficiency
- Recruit, train, and/or contract qualified resources to support training delivery and capability development
- Manage and oversee the training department’s profit and loss (P&L) with accountability for financial performance
- Develop and implement structured methodologies for client follow-up, upselling, and retention across public and private training programs
- Implement, manage, and optimize the CRM system (or leverage existing tools) to track leads, follow-ups, and client engagement
- Lead the identification and development of business development opportunities, including strategic partnerships and alliances
- Collaborate with Consulting and Systems teams to identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities for existing clients
- Lead the development and expansion of online and digital training programs to meet evolving market demands
- Establish and scale a training production practice, including the development and management of a robust Learning Management System (LMS)
- Develop operational plans aligned with business objectives, incorporating appropriate risk management strategies
- Initiate and oversee training delivery plans to support business growth and service excellence • Collaborate across the organization to leverage implementation capabilities and ensure integrated service delivery
- Contribute to the development of new products and service offerings in collaboration with the leadership team
- Actively support and contribute to the overall growth strategy of 4S Consulting Inc.
- Schedule, lead, and participate in weekly leadership meetings to provide updates on training operations and performance (this requirement is a prerequisite for eligibility under the Incentive Plan)
- Lead the review and revision of all existing training programs, including both content and structural enhancements
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Adult Education, Business Administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Minimum 5–10 years of progressive experience in training, learning & development, or OHS-related roles, including leadership or management responsibility
- Demonstrated experience developing, delivering, and scaling training programs, preferably within Occupational Health and Safety, compliance, or regulated environments
- Strong understanding of OHS legislation, standards, and best practices applicable to training delivery
- Proven experience identifying market opportunities and translating them into commercially viable training products and services
- Demonstrated financial acumen, including experience managing budgets and full P&L accountability
- Experience leading teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and contracting external resources
- Strong business development skills, including client relationship management, upselling, and partnership development
- Experience implementing and managing CRM systems and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Proven ability to develop and execute annual and multi-year operational and strategic plans • Strong project management, organizational, and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Consulting, Systems, and senior leadership
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficiency with digital training delivery platforms and online learning methodologies
- Experience working in a consulting or professional services environment is considered an asset
