Equipment, machinery and fixtures must be secured while performing maintenance, repairs, cleaning, inspection, or refitting. The Occupational Safety and Heath Administration (OSHA) created the lockout/tagout standard to protect employees from the unexpected start-up of machines or release of stored energy during service and maintenance. This course will cover all the basics of lockout/tagout such as the duties and responsibilities of all the parties involved in this process, the circumstances under which lockout/tagout is needed, the proper steps to follow and other information necessary for a safe lockout/tagout.
